Engage

Formed out of the Bristol Old Vic Young Company, we feel participation and training is at the heart of everything we do. Our ensemble practice and politics inform the work we make and the stories we tell. We work as a democratic devising ensemble wherein every member contributes to the research, writing, structuring, and performing of a production - creating a unique shared theatrical language and aesthetic from show to show. We create our work in dialogue with each other and then continue that conversation with our audience.

Through our engagement work, we invite whoever we work with to share in this process. Together, we will engage with big ideas, digest them and put them to work, encouraging them to get involved in it all. We will think, reflect, collaborate, disagree and laugh a lot to make something new together!

Our engagement work consists of three main strands:

  • Training - We run workshops for students; CPD for Drama Teachers; Professional Development for Theatre Makers.

  • Shows - We develop new devised shows with a students and emerging theatre makers.

  • Conversation - We facilitate bespoke projects with community groups that have conversation at their heart.

Take a look at our projects below and get in touch with Emily at emily@thewardrobeensemble.com if have any questions or want to discuss a new collaboration!
