UPCOMING TRAINING
The Theatre Making Residency
Monday 8th - Friday 12th August | 1532 Theatre, Bristol Grammar School | 10am - 5pm
Join award-winning theatre company, The Wardrobe Ensemble for a week of collaborative theatre training and making.
Based on techniques they have developed over the last decade, The Wardrobe Ensemble will guide you through a week of intensive theatre training to get you moving, talking and making. Working together as an ensemble, we will develop our physical and ensemble theatre skills, honing our awareness of ourselves and those around us. We will look at different ways we can generate material and what we do with it next. We will investigate the role that sound, light and design play in the devising process and how, as theatre makers, we can utilise these tools to create new work.
Alongside a lot of play, we will have conversations. We will discuss what we want to make work about and how we can go about making it. How we generate creative discussions and find the heat of an idea. We will discuss what it means to truly collaborate and create something greater than the sum of its parts.
It's going to be a fun, rigorous week of theatre training. Come get involved!
We have reduced rate and bursary places available, so if you feel that the price is a barrier to you attending, please get in touch with Emily at emily@thewardrobeensemble.com.

ONLINE CPD FOR DRAMA TEACHERS AND FACILITATORS
Devising in a socially distanced classroom
This 2 hour online workshop is aimed at Drama Teachers and Facilitators working with KS4/5 students in schools and educational settings.
This workshop will equip teachers with a series of devising tools and techniques to take back to the classroom and support their students in their own devised theatre-making. Through pre-recorded videos, presentations and interactive discussions, we will unpack some of the key exercises The Wardrobe Ensemble use to make its work. We will look at how to generate new material, develop discussions, create narrative structure and make visually exciting theatrical moments. Taken together, we hope to provide an informative, thoughtful and enriching theatre workshop that provides teachers with an insight into the company’s methodology, which they can incorporate into their own teaching.
After this workshop you will:
-
Have a good understanding of The Wardrobe Ensemble’s devising process.
-
Be able to lead five devising tasks with your students in a socially distanced classroom.
-
Develop your own devising language and best practice for running a room.
This workshop also includes:
-
A teaching resource pack, detailing each exercise discussed in the workshop and an outline of the company process.
-
Pre-recorded videos of our exercises and company interviews.
